SailTime Sailor Gam, Saturday, January 23rd, beginning at 4pm.

Saturday, January 23rd, 2010, 4pm until 8pm . . . or so, please join us for a "SailTime Sailor Gam", (Sailor Party) at our office at Willoughby Harbor Marina, Norfolk, VA. We'll supply munchies through Cathy, and our friends from Sunset Grill (downstairs). Adult beverages are BYO, but we'll have some mixers, soft drinks, coolers and ice. Around 5:30pm, Capt Dave will briefly discuss sailing stuff, including SailTime's exclusive "Running Spring Warp" docking technique. Plus, "Song Sung Blue", our Hunter 33, will be open for inspection on "C" dock. Her central heat will be on!! Please join us and invite anyone you like, but please RSVP. American Sailing Association Certified "Basic Keelboat 101" is offered every week-end beginning mid April through November. Will also custom schedule mid-week courses for no additional charge.

Prerequisites for Certified ASA 101: None $495.00

General Description: Learn to sail a boat of about 20 feet in length in light to moderate winds and sea conditions in familiar waters without supervision. No previous
power, sail or navigation skill required.

Our week-end public ASA Basic Keelboat course consists of 3 hours of shoreside instruction Friday evening from 6-9, and Saturday and Sunday on-the-water training. When you complete Basic Keelboat certification, you will have enough practical experience to skipper a sailboat of about 22' in light to moderate winds. Bring lunch, non-marking footwear, drink, plenty of sunscreen, sailing gloves, and a brimmed cap. Course fee includes "Sailing Fundamentals" text, on-the-water skills DVD, written test study guide, and a one year membership in the American Sailing Association.


With two students, we can customize the schedule to suit your schedule.

· Basic Keelboat is taught on 22' monohull sailboats. Your boat will NOT tip over.

· Instructor is always on board.

· No more than 3 students per boat for ASA 101

We sail on Willoughby Bay - the best small boat sailing in the Southern Bay

You are always in sight of land - no big waves

· If the wind or weather is not good for learning, we will reschedule at no additional charge.

Bareboat Charter Certification 103 / 104 combo course - NEW PRICE $1099.00. Includes provisioning.

Prerequisites: Basic Keelboat Sailing - ASA 101 can be "challenged" if you have previous sailing experience

General Description: Four days and 3 nights on the water. This course can be taken as 103 only, 103-104 combo, or 104 only. The individual can act as skipper or crew of a 30 - 50 foot boat sailing by day in coastal waters. The Standard includes knowledge of boat systems, navigation basics and maintenance procedures. Generally, Monday morning thru Thursday afternoon.

Minimum boat size - 33 feet. - All boats late model Hunters. Equipment includes: Roller Furling main and jib, GPS, chart plotter, auto pilot, bimini, Dockside A/C, enclosed shower, Frig, more . . .

Generally, Monday morning through Thursday afternoon.

Course schedules: June 15-18; July 21-24; August 24-27; Sept 21-24; October 4-7
Cost: $1299 - includes provisioning. No more than four students

Custom Live Aboard Training, as well as "All Fun" Captained Cruises are also available.

This course may also be taken without certification with appropriate sailing resume.


Coastal Navigation 105 Prerequisites: None

General Description: Able to demonstrate the navigational theory required to safely navigate a sailing vessel in coastal or inland waters. There is no Sailing Skills part to this Standard and practical application of this sailing knowledge is found in the Advanced
Coastal Cruising Standard.

Course content is appropriate for power or sail. Although no prerequisites for Coastal Navigation are required, SailTime HIGHLY recommends that applicant have a basic understanding of nautical charts and experience reading a compass. This ASA-certified course is more in depth than the USCG navigation module. Be prepared to study outside of class. Only EIGHT SEATS TOTAL!

No charge for staff initiated, inclement weather rescheduling.
No refunds when reservation cancelled within 7 days of class, or no show.
