We have many options to get you on the water. Read on to discover the boating experience that's waiting for you.
We have spots open on a 2008 Hunter 33 which is waiting for you at Summit North Marina located midway through the Chesapeake & Delaware Canal (commonly referred to as the C&D Canal). This canal connects the Delaware River to the Cheaspeake Bay via one of the bay's upper tributaries, the Elk River.
This quiet marina has a pool, individual rest rooms with showers, laundry facilities, fuel, plus a pump out station. The newly renovated restaurant, Firehouse Dockside (formerly Christopher's Waterway Cafe) offers a varied menu in a comfortable family atmosphere; plus they host live entertainment on the outdoor patio on weekend summer evenings. On the marina's grounds, in a private wooded grove, a picnic area is set aside where you'll find grills to cook your favorite barbeque items. At the slip, the boat can even be hooked up to receive cable TV. The marina is located within Lum's Pond State Park which offers hiking paths, fresh water fishing, nature center, disc golf and even small boat rental.
Because the marina is only a short distance from several main highways like I-95 (via Rt. 896), I-295 or I-495 (via Rt. 13) and even Rt. 1 (exit 152) you'll find it takes only a few minutes to wind your way down Summit North Blvd.
From this marina location you can head east on the canal to take a day trip to grab lunch in Delaware City or set off for a longer journey north on the Delaware River to take in all the excitement in Philadelphia. Or follow the river south as it becomes the Delaware Bay for an excursion to enjoy the seashore towns of Cape May, NJ or Lewis, DE.
Heading west on the canal from Summit North Marina, you'll soon pass Chesapeake City,MD where you tie up in a slip or drop an anchor in the protected Back Creek basin. Stay overnight or grab a quick lunch before you continue traveling out of the canal where you'll soon view the beautiful scenery as you spot the banks of the Elk River. From here you'll pass the mouth of the Bohemia and Sassafras Rivers before you come to the head of the Chesapeake Bay. From here there are many quiet, out of the way spots or quaint historic towns to explore.
