Hi, my name is Mike Delamater, Base Owner of SailTime in Marina del Rey, California.
I started sailing 30 years ago when a friend of mine and I took lessons together. Since then I've owned 3 boats: a Catalina 30; a Willard 30' 8-ton Cutter and most recently, a 38' J-Benford-designed center-cockpit ketch.
I've also had the good fortune to crew on other friends' boats in places like Hawaii, Mexico, Panama, Florida, Colombia and the Kingdom
of Tonga. But some of my fondest memories are of sailing right here in Southern California, with trips to Catalina and Santa Barbara Island.
In the course of owning those boats, I learned something interesting: I actually spent more time varnishing, washing, waxing, painting, polishing, stitching, repairing, replacing (or paying someone else a lot of money to do so!) -- and as I recall, swearing a lot -- than I did actually sailing
I can't count the times I boarded the boat to sail off for a three-day weekend when something broke at the last minute and I spent the rest of the weekend with my head in the bilge, sweat on my face and grease on my hands. That's what boat "ownership" really entails, which is why I think SailTime is so great. SailTime allows you to do what you want to do most: get out and SAIL!

Every month we offer a get-acquainted daysail. The event is limited to four people and advance reservations are required.
Spend an afternoon on the water aboard our 36’ Hunter, “Miranda”, where you’ll experience first-hand the enjoyment of SailTime, and get all the answers to questions you may have about the SailTime program.
Registration fee is just $60 per person and should you decide to join SailTime within a week of the event, we’ll apply the fee towards your first month’s SailTime dues.

Our Crew-to-Cruising Sailing Instruction Will Have You Confidently Behind the Helm in No Time!
All classes are taught aboard our beautiful 36' Hunter Yacht here in Marina del Rey, CA -- it's the very boat you'll be sailing when you join the SailTime program. Our semi-private lessons are limited to no more than four individuals and can be arranged conveniently around your schedule. Private lessons are also available. Upon completion of our Basic Sailing Course, you'll be eligible for a discount in SailTime. Contact us for details & current rates.

SailTime Lite is an Even More Affordable Way to Begin the SailTime Experience.
It’s designed especially for new sailors, those individuals who have limited time or for whom finances are a consideration. The monthly dues are only $450, which guarantees you three half-day sails per month. For an additional fee, we also have Coast Guard Captains available to accompany you if you need some help developing or just brushing up on your skills.
The availability of Lite memberships is limited, so contact us for details.
