Meet the Puerto Rico Base Owner
As a child I sailed the waters of the Chesapeake Bay, Maryland. While a teenager I was introduced to the Caribbean and the wonderful sailing here. Needless to say, relocating to the Caribbean to pursue what would become my career was an easy decision. What I realized was that you can sail year round, swim year round, snorkel or dive year round, and it never gets cold! I set my course for a career as a Sea Captain and began discovering the incredible differences and great life style of Caribbean sailing. Since the early 90's, I've owned, cruised and operated charters, and presently own and operate Atlas Yacht Sales. A yacht brokerage and dealership for Hunter sailboats and Lagoon Catamarans. From this experience I realized that owning a sailboat or chartering requires a substantial commitment and knowledge. Alas, Sailtime has come along to make sailing easy, worry and hassle free.
My attraction to Fajardo PR and reasons for establishing myself here are many. Here in eastern Puerto Rico we have access the pristine clear waters of the Caribbean, steady trade winds and some of the best sailing destinations in the world. The plenitude of calm anchorages within a one hours sail combined with the world class snorkeling and diving makes for a premiere sailing destination. Fajardo is also very easy to get to. It's only a 45 minute drive from the San Juan International Airport and the many attractions of the San Juan metropolitan area.
