Hunter e36 Electrics Join the Fleet
This month, we take delivery on two of the first electric engine sailboats from Hunter Marine. In both instances, the primary auxiliary propulsion is provided by an electric motor. Both yachts have a diesel generator to charge the batteries if needed. There has been much talk in the industry about greening the sailing experience and certainly many DIY sailors have converted but the e36 is the first production sailboat manufactured new with this type of set up.

Detroit Offers Two Locations to Sail
For the past seven years, SailTime Detroit has been helping sailors go sailing on Lake St. Clair in Detroit, which is also known as, “the Heart of the Great Lakes”. It's a great place to explore as there's always something new to see and do. Nearly every time you go out you see freighter traffic, either up-bound or down-bound on the freighter channel. Then there's sailboat racing at least two or three days a week and sometimes we get to see the go-fast boats speeding across the lake.

To begin your adventure, step onboard at the Philadelphia Marine Center. From here you're in the heart of the things this big, historic, progressive city has to offer. Philadelphia was recently named as "the next Great American City" by National Geographic Traveler magazine. Our dock location includes a large, private patio compete with outdoor furniture, positioned with a riverside view. Since the marina sits underneath the landmark Ben Franklin Bridge, we couldn’t ask for a better viewing spot for its nightly light show or for the beautiful fireworks displays frequently blasting off over the river.
